Horse drawn char-à-banc departing from Gorey pier

During the occupation the German forces changed the silhouette of Mont Orgueil Castle by constructing an observation post at it's summit, apart from the absence of the Jersey Eastern Railway building on the right, the buildings at the left have not changed their appearance a great deal.

When this photograph was taken, it was possible to buy a "St Helier to Paris" ticket.  The journey commenced from the Jersey Eastern Railway Terminal at Snowhill, St Helier to the Gorey Station, then by a 14 mile Steamer trip to the port of Carteret, then onwards from Carteret Railway Station direct to Paris.
